Boreholes for Water and Water Wells

Water is a gift of nature.......... why are you paying for it?

Since 2003 the Environment Agency has permitted the abstraction of up to 20,000 litres (4,450 Gallons) of water per day from a borehole without the need to obtain a license.

Water authorities can charge you up to £7,000 a year for this quantity of water. Click here for details of these charges

Private water supplies from boreholes and water wells are not subject to hosepipe bans.

Borehole Drilling for Water : Our Rigs.

We use the latest drilling rigs for borehole / water wells and materials and will work closely with developers, businesses, home owners and contractors to provide the solution for your own private water supply by having a borehole for water .

About 30% of the water we drink already comes from boreholes and water wells so why not benefit from having your own and be free from future water bills?

We can also re-commission an old water well by installing new borehole pumps after being redrilled and bring this back to life for you!

Check out our other pages as we have drilling rigs for sale and water well drilling rigs for Africa. We are also drilling rig manufacturers.

Drilling a Million Boreholes for Water Wells for Africa's Water Shortage

Some experts say that Africa will need to drill up to a two million boreholes to supply them with sufficient safe and clean water for the next twenty years. Estimates for Ethiopia by itself has been thought to need 100,000 boreholes for water wells.

This amount of well drilling will supply the country with safe clean drinking water. Just for East Africa alone an investment of a two billion dollars is thought to be needed to pay for this over the next decade.

It's a sad truth that 8,000 African's die every day through drinking dirty polluted water. The African population have hto walk miles and miles to bring this water in cans or plastic containers, this water if often contaminated and not fit for human consumption, but often there are no alternatives.

Most of us here in the UK need to consume about 2 liters per day to sustain life but in Africa the people need to drink more because of the intense temperatures and to combat the risk of dehydration.

In England we have little appreciation for our water supply. Now think about how much water is wasted each day in our daily routine. For example, we can use up to 8 liters per flush of our toilet system and leaving the tap running whilst brushing our teeth can waste up to 10 litres of water.

The Environment Agency has stated that every person in the United Kingdom uses an average of 150 liters per day.

What's left from what the average individual in the UK drinks is 148 liters, this is possibly used up with toilet flushing; cleaning teeth, car washing, leaking taps, broken mains, etc This list could be endless.

Consider always, water is a gift of nature, it is just harder for some people to acquire than others.

Who would benefit from a borehole?

Since 2003 the Environment Agency has allowed the abstraction of up to 20,000 litres of water per day without the need to obtain a special licence. A lot of homeowners and business think they are not allowed to have their own supply and have to pay their Local Authority. This is now not the case and you could have your own boreholes for less than you think. So, by having your own borehole you can have access to virtually unlimited amounts of water all year round. This is even more beneficial when you have a business that is dependant on water. For example garden centres, livery yards etc and even landscaped gardens in a residential property.

Drilling Water Well Boreholes

There are a few different ways of drilling boreholes the most basic of these is called the cable percussion method which basically the machine is a trypod with a pulley lifting up a tube attached to a steel cable, that when dropped to the ground this cuts into the ground bit by bit and then you clean out the spoil from the tool as you go. The next type drilling machine is a rotary drilling machine that drills a borehole just like a normal drill you would have at home the differences being you add drill pipe to drill deeper every three meters or so these cut the holes with a bit called a drag bit for soft material like chalk or you can use a tricone rock roller bit for rock drilling.
